Conserve H2O, Let’s Drink Wine!

An already well-known benefits of drinking wine is it’s good for the heart. But what are the other benefits that we could be missig out? Here are some of its benefits accompanied with different researches and studies that i have read online:

  1. Low Cholesterol Level – if consumed moderately in the context of a healthy diet along with regular physical activity, our HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) or also known as the good cholesterol increases. This means decrease in LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) or the bad cholesterol. Which can also mean a less possibility of having a heart disease, stroke and cardiovascular diseases since HDL or the good cholesterol since it aids in good blood circulation.
  2. Good Memory – i read an article before about an experiment in which the researchers gives memory quizzes to women in their 70’s, the two groups are divided int A and B. Group a are women who drank one glass of wine or more per day and the group B were women who does not drink at all and the results went in favor of group A. It is because wine helps prevent clots and reduce blood vessel inflammation, both of which have been linked to cognitive decline and heart disease.
  3. Aiding in Prevention of Blood – Sugar Disease – according to a study conducted by the Harvard Medical School, premenopausal women who drink one or two glasses of wine a day are 40 percent less likely than women who don’t drink to develop type 2 diabetes. This seems unclear to me but i guess wine reduces the insulin resistance of a diabetic patient.
  4. Increase Immune Defenses – according to a spanish study, as little as half a glass may also guard against food poisoning caused by germs like salmonella when people are exposed to contaminated food. And also, according to a British study, people who drank roughly a glass of wine a day reduced by 11% their risk of infection by Helicobacter pylori bacteria, a major cause of gastritis, ulcers, and stomach cancers.
  5. Decrease Risk for Cataracts – a study conducted in Iceland where 1,379i ndividuals were observed, moderate drinkers are 32 percent less likely to get cataracts than nondrinkers; those who consume wine are 43 percent less likely to develop cataracts than those drinking mainly beer.
  6. Stronger Bones – those women who drink moderately seem to have higher bone mass than abstainers. Alcohol appears to boost estrogen levels. The hormone seems to slow the body’s destruction of old bone more than it slows the production of new bone.
  7. Antioxidant – it is because of the wine’s component reservatrol. This comes from the skin of grapes used to make wine. Because red wine is fermented with grape skins longer than is white wine, red wine contains more resveratrol.

These are just some of the benefits that we could get in drinking wine. Who knows if they could discover more in the near future? Just bear this in mind that alcohol consumption wether it is proved to be good or bad, it should be taken moderately! Tell me your thoughts 🙂
